Winter/Spring 2018 Newsletter
Dear Members & Friends of the HMS-Philadelphia,

On behalf of the entire HMS board we wish you Χριστὸς ἀνέστη (Hristos Anesti) and on the occasion of this day, May 1st we wish you Καλή Πρωτομαγιά (Kali Protomagia)!

On January 19th, together with the Greek American Chamber of Commerce, the Greek American Heritage Society, the Hellenic American Federation and the Hellenic University Club, the HMS organized a celebratory event to ring in 2018! A great turnout by our members and members of fellow societies ensured a fantastic evening, catching up with colleagues & friends all while enjoying the wonderful hospitality of Estia restaurant in downtown Philly. Like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/The-Hellenic-Medical-Society-of-Philadelphia-120428697988724/) to check out photos from this (and other!) events.

On Sunday March 25th, in center city Philadelphia, members and friends of the HMS proudly marched in the Greek Independence Day Parade along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The sunny day ensured a great turnout!

In alignment with our ongoing mission to support students of Greek descent, we awarded scholarships to two excellent candidates, Miss Alexis Kalargheros and Mr. Vasili Sitaras in support of their studies in the medical field. To read more on Alexis and Vasili please visit our website: http://www.hmsphl.com

Please consider joining our society and encourage your doctor, pharmacist, physical therapist, dentist, nurse or any allied health professional of Greek descent to also join us! (for more details please contact me at limberis@upenn.edu). A friendly reminder to all our active members to please pay your 2018 dues!

We are planning our General Assembly Meeting for the week of May 21st (details to follow) in Philadelphia and encourage you to attend to hear in person what we do as a society.

Finally, 2018 is a special year for the HMS! It marks 10 years since its inception and formation and we are delighted that two of its founding members, Dr. Hadjiliadis and Dr. Iliadis, who remain strong advocates of the mission of the HMS, are active board members. Stay tuned for a celebratory event planned for the Fall of 2018!
