Hellenic Medical Societies of Philadelphia, New York and North Jersey to participate in Philadelphia Greek Independence day parade
Members and Friends of the Hellenic Medical Society of Philadelphia, New York and North Jersey are to participate in the Greek Independence Day parade in Philadelphia on Sunday, March 20th. Members of the executive board of North Jersey including President Christina Antoniou, President of HMS New York Dr. Nicholas Mezitis and HMS Philadelphia Board members and President Dr. Elias Iliadis are scheduled to parade. Also Invited are the American Hellenic Lawyers Association members and President Nikitas Moustatas to participate with the medical societies in celebrating Greek Independence.

Co-sponsored by the Hellenic Medical Societyof Philadelphia, American Hellenic Lawyers Association, Greek American Chamber of Commerce and Drexel University LeBow School of Business, over 50 came to become informed and participate in the State of the Debate Health Care Symposium. Speakers included Keynote Speaker Congressman Robert Andrews, CFO South Jersey Healthcare Mr John Diangelo, Pharmaceutical Consultant Mr Debjit Ghosh, Legal Expert Mr. Vishal Petigara and Moderator Mr Tassos Efstratiades, President of the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of New Jersey. Lively and constructive discussion served to educate all. Looking forward to next years topic and discussion.

The Rescheduled Winter Social took place on Wednesday February 2 and was considered by all accounts to be a social success. The cocktail hour was attended by nearly 80 people and 57 stayed for dinner! Vasilopita was cut by Father Nektarios of St George Cathedral who also gave the new year’s Blessing. HMS is fortunate to work with the American Hellenic Lawyers Association and the Greek American Chamber of Commerce for the benefit of the Hellenic Community. See you at the next event!
Due to inclement weather, we have rescheduled to Winter Social to February 2nd at 630pm at Estia Restaurant, Philadelphia PA.
Participants who have pre-paid will be credited for the new date and those who wish a refund should contact the Greek American Chamber of Commerce.

The Scholarship committee and the Board of Directors of the HMS Philadelphia are proud to announce the First Allied Health Professional Scholarship to Ms Natalie Saffos. Ms Saffos is a fourth year Nursing student at Drexel University School of Nursing. Her future plans possible include Nurse Anesthesia and we are looking forward to great things from Natalie. She looks forward to staying active in the HMS. Congrats Natalie!
Nearly 200 Greek American professionals shared Christmas cheer at the Union league in center city Philadelphia. Good food, Greek Music and non-stop mingling made for an excellent event. I would like to thank the President of the Hellenic University Club, Ms Georgia Chletcos, for including the various civic organizations and coordinating this event. We look forward to participating next year.
During the Christmas party, the Board of Directors and the Scholarship committee chairman Denis Hadjiliadis MD presented our 2010 Allied Health Professional student scholarship to Ms Natalie Saffos.

The 4th Annual Multidisciplinary Conference of the Global Hellenic Medical and Biosciences Network sponsored by the Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on December 3, 2010 was very successful in networking the Hellenic physicians and bioscientists, offering continuing medical eduacation, furthering the communication with Greek physicians and bioscientists, and becoming a model for other Hellenic professional networks to organize.
On Saturday, December 4, 2010 the community health outreach at Astoria, Queens Hellenic medical offices offered new opportunities for screening of patients for diabetes, hypertension, and women’s health problems. Over 150 physicians and bioscientists enrolled for the conference to learn from thirty high quality bioscientific presentations and excellent panel discussions.
The U.S Department of Health by its reprentative Health Policy Coordinator Ms. Ekaterini Malliou congratulated the Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America and the Global Hellenic Medical and Biosciences Network for its theme New Advances in Medicine and Community Health.
